Why wash your ceiling?
Yellowed ceiling, painting work or renovation work, all the reasons are good to wash it. Whether your ceiling is PVC paneling or you have a painted ceiling, it is important to clean it regularly. Dust, mould, stains, and other dirt can enter your interior.
Washing a ceiling without too much effort and expense is possible! Provided you have the right equipment and the right products, cleaning a ceiling is accessible to everyone and serves as a step towards a more clutter-free living space.
What products should I use to clean a ceiling?
Be careful, if you want to wash a wall, the recommended material is slightly different. For an impeccable result, you must use the right products:
- a plastic sheet
- a bucket filled with clear, lukewarm water
- Saint-Marc type detergent
- a soft-bristled brush or microfibre cloth
- a sponge broom
- a stepladder
If you want to opt for an ecological household and use natural cleaning products, you can replace the detergent with Marseille soap or soda crystals. It is recommended to adapt the cleaning product to the type of ceiling so as not to damage it. Prefer natural products to chemical products for washing panelled ceilings.
Also remember to check that your paint can withstand conventional cleaning. It must resist water and not crumble with the friction of the sponge mop.
Techniques to clean your ceiling

- Start by protecting the furniture and floor with plastic sheeting.
- Remember to turn off the power to avoid any danger and not damage your lights
